Meagan Leduc, Psy.D.
Dr. Leduc is the founder and owner of Momentum Counseling & Wellness, LLC. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in the state of Connecticut.
Dr. Leduc received her Master's degree in Psychological Counseling from Teacher's College, Columbia University in 2008, and went on to obtain her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology in 2011. Dr. Leduc specializes in providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents and adults, with a special interest in the adolescent and young adult population. She has worked in a variety of settings, including home-based mental health, intensive outpatient programs, long-term residential/inpatient programs, and private practice.
Her professional interests include eating disorders, anxiety, depression, the effects of social media on child/adolescent development and relationships, family structures, as well as other issues facing adolescents and emerging adults.
General Life Stressors
Dr. Leduc provides treatment to individuals encountering situational stressors. These stressors can include relationships ending, changes in employment, coping with physical ailments, family difficulties, divorce, parents of children with special needs, children whose parents are divorced/divorcing and other life stressors.
Mood and Anxiety
Dr. Leduc has widespread experience working with depression, anger management, Bipolar Disorder, and other mood concerns. Areas of Anxiety treatment include General Anxiety, Separation Anxiety, Social Phobia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), School Anxiety, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
Eating Disorders
Dr. Leduc has extensive experience working with children and adolescents who suffer from eating disorders, including: Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, and Binge Eating Disorder. Dr. Leduc utilizes an eclectic approach that combines cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and anxiety management strategies to better regulate eating patterns and identify healthy coping strategies.
Behavior Problems
Dr. Leduc offers treatment for children and adolescents that are struggling with behavior problems. Dr. Leduc utilizes a family-wide approach; working in conjunction with parents to develop behavior plans that motivate and interest the child, as well assisting parents in gaining more control over their child’s behavior.
Couples Therapy
Dr. Leduc provides treatment to couples seeking assistance in their relationship, premarital counseling and marital therapy. Dr. Leduc provides couples counseling at any stage of a relationship that facilitates healthy and productive communication and fosters increased interpersonal understanding.
Emerging Adulthood/Academic Transitions
Dr. Leduc has successfully worked with adolescents and young adults as they prepare to continue their education after high school. Treatment is also offered for those individuals that struggle with transitioning into the college experience or those that take a break from school. College students that drop out are also able to explore their options realistically and then create goals to continue progress in their lives. Counseling is also available to those individuals seeking to discern which path they feel is best for their own development/continued growth and happiness.
